Connor Archbold | #FridayProfile

For the last year Connor has been managing Lightning Lab - New Zealand's startup accelerator. They just completed the inaugural Auckland programme in which they provided the funding, networks and mentorship to drive nine digital startups from idea to seed capital in just three months. Feel free to get in touch with him if you want to bounce around some ideas you've had in the back of your mind for a while.

1. Most memorable show/event/concert and why?
Hmmmm, there are a couple right at the top - Little Bushman at Leigh Sawmill Cafe & Foo Fighters at Akl Town Hall for the Chch earthquake appeal. Those were both pretty special and deserve honorable mentions but I think Histamatics at Portland Public House might take the cake because of the insane amount of dancing, and the good vibe, and the trumpet player standing on the bar for a while.

2. You have $50 in your pocket on a Friday night out in Auckland – where would you go?
$50 would effortlessly cater a night out for 3 people at Spitting Feathers, so for sheer value that might be the go-to. However, because it's winter, I can't go passed a few hot-toddys and a round of dumplings at Xu-Xu.

3. If you were to produce/create a show, what would it be about?
I think we really missed an opportunity for some glorious reality TV in Lightning Lab. Ups and downs, sides to sides, maybe even some romance...also, why hasn't anyone made a Broadway version of the Big Lebowski? Surely a sell out.

4. Favourite piece of art/object/rock?
Pinnacles (rock/mountain) in the Coromandel. Climb it when it's raining and [safely] watch the flash flood cascade off the mountain.

5. One sentence to describe the arts, culture, and events scene in Auckland?
Awesome & growing every day - it's becoming hard to keep up with all of the cool, fun, delicious and inspiring things to do in this amazing city.
