We are beginning our #FridayProfile series where we do a short interview of a young professional making waves, to get their feel on arts, culture, and events.
Absolutely delighted to have Josh Daniell for our very first profile! Josh is Head - Platform and Investor Growth at Snowball Effect, an equity crowdfunding platform helping Kiwi companies to raise funds from the public, and then helping those companies to harness the power of their crowds. Building on his passion for New Zealand SMEs and the fast-growing crowdfunding phenomenon, Josh joined the Snowball Effect team in 2013.
1. Most memorable show/event/concert and why?
Dynamotion's Terror Planet, partially because a friend was performing, but mostly because it was captivating and hilarious. Shows like that bring out the crazy in everyone, and I like to awaken those parts of myself and see it in others.
2. You have $50 in your pocket on a Friday night out – where would you go?
Spitting Feathers. I dare you to try and get through $50.
3. If you were to produce/create a show, what would it be about?
I love all types of shows / movies / songs / etc which showcase honest human character, so I think it would be something along those lines.
4. Favourite piece of art/object/rock?
"Tiger" by Tori (girlfriend), and a watercolour of a ponderous girl by Fran (someone I met in Bahrain). Special mention should also go to Jean-Michel Basquiat for painting a picture of a dinosaur which is now my cellphone cover.
5. One sentence to describe the arts, culture, and events scene in Auckland?
I've barely scraped the surface, but it strikes me as somewhere between Masterton and Berlin!
